PROFOLK Archiv

In the former East Germany, they were among the first and most successful folk bands of all times, Folkländer from Leipzig. This band of skilled chaos, equal to Fairport Convention´s, celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1996.
After some name and member changes (founder and lead singer Jürgen B. Wolff left the group and joined the Kabarett of Duo Sonnenschirm) Folkländer is back under the name of Bierfiedler. Their repertoire still consists of some of the traditional folk songs with straight-talking language. Additionally, there are many ballads and interpretations of rock tunes.
The main subjects of most of Bierfiedler´s songs are love and other catastrophes. The band´s members have matured but their music shows the same energetic passion as it did 20 years ago.
Perhaps this is because of the joy they share making music together as well as the personal friendships which have kept the band together till today.
