DAS BLAUE EINHORN
The name of the band Das Blaue Einhorn goes back to the 20s and 30s Cuban singer/songwriter Silvio Rodriguez. In one of his songs he describes the mythical unicorn as an animal which uses its horn to catch the sounds of the world.
The band members took this name in January 1991 when they presented their first program of topical songs as a reaction to the Gulf War. Previously, their repertoire concentrated on the popular music of the 20s and the 30s. Today you will find the quartet performing the songs of such diverse composers as Mikis Theodorakis, Tom Waits, Kurt Weill and Sting, in addition to their own brand of world folk“.
To listen to Das Blaue Einhorn is like travelling around the world. You get out of the plane in Rumania, travel to Turkey on a hayride, make a stop over in Israel, and train through Greece and France on your way back.
Since it´s a voyage of imagination, you even get a taste of Latin America in this band from Dresden. It´s a lot of fun to listen to Das Blaue Einhorn when they play at weddings and holidays.
You feel invited to come and celebrate, to dance and to sing along.
However, these four musicians also inspire their concert audiences to listen to songs which have a real message.
