DISSIDENTEN

Rolling Stone magazine called them the Godfathers of World-Beat“ on the world music genealogical tree. Dissidenten were founded in Berlin in 1980 by Uve Müllrich, Marlon Klein and Friedo Josch.
The group has been on a zigzag world voyage for some seventeen years now. At the invitation of Maharaja Bhalkrishna Bharti of Gondagaon, the trio spent a year at his palace in central India.
In 1983 the group set up camp in Tangiers, Marocco. Since then, whether in Spain, Italy, North America, North Africa or Brazil, Dissidenten have brought millions of people to their feet.

After their Sahara Elektrik“ CD in the Eighties and their 1991 Live in New York“ CD they then took Kipling´s Jungle Book“ to new realms without Disneyfication in 1993. Their most recent effort, Instinctive Traveler“ is an exploration of terra incognita. On this release the core trio is surrounded by many new colleagues, including North Indian, Tamil, Native American, Arabic, Hawaiian and blues voices.
Amid the exotic tongues in this featured track, The Lobster Song“, is the voice of Bajka, the 18 year old daughter of Uve Müllrich. Dissidenten are also joined by vocalist Tamil Manickam Yogeswaran who has been working with the group since 1994.
