SCHMIEDT, SCHLOTT & MORITZ

Three virtuosi assembled for the project "PAmagieRA", a fantastic, romantic trip into the world of sounds and melodies. Henning Schmiedt, Volker Schlott and Uli Moritz bring their individual, musical histories to create a work of poetic instrumental music where acoustic and electronic, jazz, classical, contemporary and world music merge.
Henning Schmiedt started his career on piano and keyboards in 1985. He worked with Jocelyn B. Smith, Angelika Weiz, Mikis Theodorakis and Maria Farantouri to name only a few of a long list of well known musicians. In addition to his own instrumentals he has composed works for movies and theatrical productions.
He won 2nd place at the International Jazz Competition in Hoillart in Belgium with his own band College. Volker Schlott studied saxophone, flute and piano. In 1977 he had his first professional band Fusion. Since then he has shared the stage with Cecil Taylor, Simon Nabatow, Uwe Kropinski, Conny Bauer, Joachim Kühn and Harry Beckett.

Some of his own bands include the Volker Schlott Quartet and Fun Horns. He has received numerous festival awards and is a teacher at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin. Uli Moritz studied percussion with Gerry Brown, Reinhard Flatischler and Dudu Tucci.
He has worked with musicians from Ghana, Zaire, Brasil and the USA. Among the ensembles and soloists he has worked with are the Silent Jazz Ensemble, Human Factor, Romy Haag and Friedemann.
He teaches percussion at several music schools in Germany.
