Explore real music from all over Germany !
Youre looking for a way to find out the latest in folk, song and world music in Germany, right?
Heres your passport of smoking German melodic and rhythmic pleasure. The last year made it abundantly clear how vibrant the German roots music scene has grown. Whats more, a new generation of musicians has emerged to demonstrate that vitality. A case in point is the Schäl Sick Brass Band - a ten-piece from Cologne - who made that manifest at the 1995 WOMEX shindig in at Brussels.
PROFOLK felt therefore encouraged to put together this compilation of infectious dance music, haunting instrumental performances and impassioned singing. Despite its Teutonic tongue-in-cheek title,
» Its Only Kraut...But I Like It Folk, Song & World Music In Germany 97 «
features a compelling collection of irreverent, enthusiastic and technically inspired acts performing an abundance of regional music and styles.
It also features proxy German acts, musicians who have made the Fatherland their new home. Some are regional stars. Some are already shining bright internationally. All are inthe forefront of their chosen field.
At the time of writing, we have already begun the difficult task of short-listing candi- dates for next years compilation. But, never fear, globetrotters and armchair travel- lers alike, this years selections are here before you in the shape of
» Its Only Kraut...But I Like Its Folk, Song & World Music In Germany 97 «.
