TOUCHWOOD

Cristina Crawley and Kerstin Blodig formed the Duo Touchwood in 1990. As their talents for vocal harmony merged they began to develop their own individual style of instrumental and vocal arrangement. Although their musical roots clearly lie in the song tradition of Ireland, Scotland and England they succeed in combining contemporary music with traditional influences, thereby creating an exciting blend of old and new, a blend also to be found in their own material.
In 1991 they released »Among The Ladies All«, in 1994 took part on the production of Thomas Loefkes CD Norland Wind«, and in 1995 they launched their CD »Passion Play«. Cristina Crawley grew up in Northern Ireland where involvement in music is part of the cultural heritage. She learned classical violin and played in the Ulster College of Music Youth Orchestra. After finishing her studies in modern languages at the University College where she was a member of the University Orchestra, she moved to Berlin. Here she concentrated largely on singing and joined several choirs. She now devotes her time to writing music and performing as well as taking part in the musical side of theatre production.
Kerstin Blodigs roots are to be found in Berlin. She started to play the piano at an early age but later switched to guitar and stringed instrument. While studying musicology and Scandinavian Studies she became particularily interested in the traditional music of the North.
Since leaving university she has concentrated exclusively on musical performance, has played music for theatre productions and is along with Noel and Pádraig Duggan of Clannad and harpist Thomas Loefke founding member of Norland Wind.
